Top 10 - Computer Problems.

Q. My computer will not switch on?

A. First thing to try is to make sure that all power leads are plugged in correctly. That means making sure they are plugged into the back of the computer and into the mains.
If they are all fine that the next thing is to try another plug socket and another power lead if you have one available. This rules out any power errors.
Next is to check whether on the back of your computer where the power lead plugs in there is a power switch. Most power supplies have one so it could just be switched to off position so change it to on.
If it still doesn't switch on and there are no lights showing on it at all then you need to contact Swindon Computers.

Q.
My computer comes up with non system disk error on bootup?

A. The most common cause of this is when people have left floppy disks in the disk drive and switched there machines on. If it is disconnect it and reconnect it just to make sure it isn't a loose connection. Swindon Computers.

Q. My printer will not print in windows?

A. If the printer isn't printing when you send documents to it then the first thing to do is to go into the control panel. This is located in your my computer. Within the control panel is printers icon. Double click printers icon and it will show a list of all the printers installed on your computer. Make sure that the one you are printing to shows up in there. For example if you are printing to a HP Laserjet ensure that HP Laserjet shows up in the printers folder. If it doesn't then the printer needs to be reinstalled using the disk provided by the printer manufacturer. If it does show up then you need to right click the printer icon. This will bring up a menu. Left click on properties. You will then see print test page. Left click this and see what happens. It should print off a test page from your printer. If it doesn't then you need to make sure that your printer is correctly powered on with the power light on and make sure that is is correctly connected by the printer lead into the back of the printer and into the back of the computer.
